Focus on defense. I know that Symmetra can be played also in attack, but in these guides I will show only placements for the defender team. Note that some of them might work even for the attackers.

Safe placements. The Shield Generator has an unlimited duration and will keep working until destroyed. The enemy team will try to find and break it as soon as possible, so it is essential to place it in a hidden and “secret” location.

The best spots. I will show you some of the best placements in each map that work even at high SR, and alert when you should avoid an overused or risky one. Beside these locations, there are other viable options depending on your skill rating, but I skipped the obvious ones.

Position and range. The main spots have also pictures showing the max range of each Shield Generator.

No turret climbing or Mei required. For this series, I decided to not feature spots that can be reached only via Mei’s Ice Wall or turret climbing.

Shield Generator or Teleporter. I will not argue about the perfect choice on each map and point, but just explain the best spots for the former. Of course, some of these locations can be used also for the latter.

Please note. I used Sentry Turrets to mark most of the secondary or wrong Shield Generator placements. Unfortunately, it is necessary to restart the lobby to place a new one.

Horizon Lunar Colony

There aren’t great placements in this map. I will showcase only one viable spot in each point, explain all the other possible locations, and why they do not work.

First Point

Honestly, a Teleporter is generally more valuable for the first point.

It covers entirely the main building with the point and is located sufficiently far away from the battle.

At lower ranks it will work well, but afterwards it should be destroyed quickly because everyone knows your Shield Generator can only be there. There is also a big health pack nearby that attracts flankers.

I tried putting the generator farther behind, in the room that brings to the second point, but the range isn’t enough.

Often, Symmetra players set their Shield Generator or Teleporter behind this wall. It is in the area controlled by your team, and you can fortify it via turrets, but a good flanker will be able to attack it from the right side. If your team is overwhelmed, the generator will be crushed instantly.

There are no safe placements in the buildings and high ground areas on the other side of the map. Actually, only the attackers have access to some safe spots.

Some players even put the Teleporter near the Hummer. The Shield Generator doesn’t have enough range, and to cover the point you must place it in the middle of this area.

Depending on your rank and luck, it might work. Do not overlook the big health pack which may attract people.

Second Point

This area is really confined, so there aren’t many placements available. Similarly to the second point of Hanamura, it is safer to put the Shield Generator just outside your base.

In this position, the assaulters coming from the left side of the map won’t spot it, while it is clearly visible from the right one. Still, the generator is behind your team, so it is easy to defend. Beware of your turret placements as they could just mark its presence to the attackers.
