The International 7 - 500k viewers on Indian TV

In August, Dota 2 debuted on the Indian television. The International 7 Grand Finals engaged more than 500k unique viewers.
As most of the Dota 2 fans watched TI7 live on Twitch or in the game client, it was decided to delay the TV broadcast by about 8 hours. It focused on a new audience, and on those that couldn’t follow the event live.

TI7 was the third most followed sport event of the week in India, just behind Cricket and English Premier League.
Considering the 1:28 average time, the 500,000+ unique viewers lose a lot of their value. The data isn’t perfect, and we would have preferred more metrics, but it shows that esports can extend their reach in more countries even through old media.
