Beyond The Summit released the team list and schedule for Dota Summit 8 Regional Qualifiers. Six teams from each region will battle starting from November 7.
Dota Summit 8 is the Minor hosted by BTS. It will take place at the Summit House, in Los Angeles, California from December 13 to 17, and feature a $300,000 prize pool.
As established by Valve’s rules, the tournament will have six regional qualifiers. From November 7 to 16, a total of 36 teams, six for each region, will clash to earn a ticket to California.
In the picture below, you can find the teams fighting in each region. The ones highlighted in white got a direct invite to Phase 2. Some spots must still be determined via the open qualifiers.
All the qualifiers follow the same format and are split into two phases. In the first stage, four teams will clash in a GSL group - the best two will advance to the next one. There, they will battle in a 4-team single elimination bracket. Only the final winner will take part at the Minor.
Short Film Contest
Beyond The Summit also announced a short film contest. The top five entries will be aired and judged by special guests during the tournament.
- The shorts can use any form or combination of animation or live-action technique, and can't be longer than 60 seconds
- Submit your video using the entry form at summit.gg/contest by December 4 at 12:00 PM PT
- Any member or fan of the Dota 2 community can participate
The movies will be judged by BTS’s creative content team and featured in an episode of MovieBuffed.
The top three contestants will receive prizes such as BTS merchandise, custom DXRacer chairs, and even a monetary reward for the winner.
The moviemaker that will win the community vote will receive goodies from Monster Energy, AOC, and Sennheiser.
